League of Legends 2020 events
LEC 2020 Summer (12/06 - 06/09)
The League of Legends European Championship (LEC) is estimated to launch its 2020 Summer split on the 12 June running until the 06 August. LEC Spring 2020 Champions G2 Esports are favourites to win the summer split and are representing Europe at the Mid-Season Invitational 2020
Mirroring the LCS, the LEC 2020 Summer split is considered more consequential for teams as they compete for a spot at the World Championship 2020 event.
LCS 2020 Summer (13/06 - 07/09)
The North American League Championship Series (LCS) is to start its Summer split on the 13 June and run until 07 September. Similar to the latter half of the LCS 2020 Spring split, competition will be played online until local restrictions are lifted. Cloud9 are currently the LCS Spring Champions defeating FlyQuest 3 - 1 in the split Finals.
The LCS 2020 Summer split will determine the top three teams that will attend the World Championship 2020 event at the end of the year and is considered more important than the Spring split.
LPL 2020 Summer (20/05 - 08/08)
The Tencent League of Legends Pro League (LPL) begins its Summer split earlier compared to Western regions due to the 17 teams that participate. The LPL is expected to start on the 20 May, finishing on the 8 August.
The LPL plays on a championship point system for both the Spring and Summer split making each game during the regular season consequential for the teams’ chances at qualifying for the World Championship 2020 event which is being hosted by Shanghai this year.
LCK 2020 Summer (20/05 - 08/08)
Mirroring the LPL, the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) is estimated to start its Summer split on the 20 May running until the 8 August.
Competition at the top end of the LCK was fierce in the Spring split with T1 taking home the title in the finals against Gen.G. LCK 2020 Summer is expected to be just as intense for teams as an extra spot to the World Championship will be available following amendments to the tournament.
Mid-Season Invitational 2020 (Cancelled)
Considered the second most important competition behind the World Championship, the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) invites the number one team from the Spring split of major regions around the world to compete for a chance to be MSI champions.
Citing concerns about health and travel restrictions, Riot Games decided to cancel MSI for 2020 and are making amendments to the World Championship 2020 to compeensate.
World Championship 2020 (10/10 - 10/11)
The pinnacle of professional League of Legends competition, the World Championship, also known as ‘Worlds’, is the most coveted title in the game.
Worlds typically takes place in the Autumn and Worlds 2020 is set to take place in China from October to November.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive 2020 events
ESL One Road to Rio (22/04 - 17/05)
ESL One: Road to Rio is an online qualifier event taking place across 6 regions that will determine the teams that will participate in the ESL One 2020 Rio Major in November.
The qualifier will take place over 3 weeks starting April 22 and finishing May 17 with a total prize pool of $255,000 and with 56 teams competing for a spot at the Rio Major.
ESL One Cologne (06/07 - 12/07)
Despite not being a Major tournament, ESL One: Cologne is considered one of the most prestigious events in the competitive CS:GO calendar and is an event that all teams aspire to win.
Cologne normally takes place at the height of Summer in Europe with the provisional dates of July 6th to July 12th set aside for the event.
ESL One 2020 Rio Major (19/11 - 22/11)
The only Major tournament of the 2020 CS:GO calendar, the Rio Major in November will feature a prize pool of $2,000,000 and will take place at the Jeunesse Arena, Rio, on November 19 - 22.
Dota 2
The International 2020 (Cancelled)
Taking place in Stockholm, Sweden, The International (TI) 2020 is one of the biggest events in esports with a total prize pool in 2019 exceeding $34,000,000.
TI 2019 winners OG made history last year by becoming the only team to win the prestigious event twice and in consecutive years.
