The inaugural CS:GO major to be hosted by gaming platform FACEIT is the second major Counter-Strike championship to be held this year after the Boston Major in January. The tournament is split into three stages; Challengers, Legends and the final Champions stage. The final Champions Stage is a single-elimination bracket under a Bo3 format.

What have we learnt from the Challengers and Legends Stage?
The first stage showed us that NiP and Team Liquid had turned up to this event with both teams coming out on top early in their respective groups. HellRaisers, Astralis and compLexity Gaming followed quickly behind them, only dropping one match each.
Moving onto the Legends stage, Team Liquid and complexity Gaming finished first and second dropping no maps, followed by Astralis, BIG and Na’vi who dropped one map and were then followed by HellRaisers, MIBR and FaZe Clan.
When deciding who to bet on, bettors should keep in mind is that the FACEIT Major is now in the single elimination bracket and the tournament has moved to a Bo3 format.
Bettors would be wise not underestimate the outsiders. Looking at compLexity’s performance throughout the Challenger and Legend stages we can see that they have come into the tournament with a point to prove - when they started their odds were at 85.00.
BIG (originally 22.30) and HellRaisers (originally 31.85) are teams that you might have assumed to be early exiters from the competition but contrary to the odds they have also made it to the play offs.
Despite NiP winning all of their first stage matches, it never seemed likely that they could keep up with the rest of the group. They have since lost the majority of their matches in stage two.
Who will progress through the Elimination Stages?
When deciding who to bet on, bettors should keep in mind is that the FACEIT Major is now in the single elimination bracket and the tournament has moved to a Bo3 format. This change will affects gameplay, in-game decision-making and map pools for most of the teams left in the competition.

compLexity (16.03*) are certainly a team that we should be watching throughout this elimination stage, especially after their performance in the previous stages. Despite their recent success and good form in the tournament thus far, according to the odds MIBR are still favourites to defeat compLexity so bettors may find value in a potential upset courtesy of compLexity.
MIBR (7.92*) still feel like they are trying to establish themselves as a whole. They are still a relatively new organisation and they have proven at previous events (IEM III American Championship Finals) that they have what it takes to do well and they might very well prove that compLexity’s first and second stage may have been just a fluke.
BIG (20.79*) is another team that are coming into this as particular fan favourites. Whilst in the UK, Smooya and Co. have proven time and time again that they can be a force to be reckoned with. Having lost two matches earlier in the tournament, they should be up for the challenge to progress into the later stages.
Na’Vi (5.45*) have a pretty solid reputation for winning a lot of the tournaments they are in. They have only dropped one game against Astralis in the Legends Stage and they proven in the past at ESL One Cologne that they have what it takes to beat them. If both teams make the grand finals then it should prove to be an incredibly tough match.
Liquid (3.46*) have shown throughout this competition that they have what it takes to come out on top. Not dropping a single game in both stages, and also defeating Astralis very convincingly whilst in Overtime, suggests that they might be able to make it to the Grand Final.
Looking at compLexity’s performance throughout the tournament, we can see they have a point to prove
HellRaisers (33.67*) didn’t have the easiest of times during the earlier stages, having already lost to Team Liquid in the Challengers Stage, it seems like their destinies have come full circle once more. HellRaisers might again be another outsider team to watch now that it’s in the Bo3 format.
Astralis (3.05*) have the advantage of playing recently in the first and second stages of the competition, losing only two games throughout the tournament to NiP who are now out and Team Liquid who are on the other end of the bracket. If they manage to make it to the Grand Final then they might need to update their strategies if they face Liquid again.
FaZe (7.92*) are another team that are no strangers to the competitive environment. Having beaten Astralis quite convincingly back in May, it could be another chance for FaZe to show the world that they have what it takes to win this major.
